Everything’s better with chocolate – especially today for National Chocolate Day!

Not only is chocolate delicious, it's one of the least harmful sweets for your teeth. Chocolate can be eaten easily and dissolves quickly in the mouth, which decreases the amount of time that the sugar stays in contact with teeth.

But wait – it gets better. Dark chocolate (in moderation, for example, 1 ounce a few times a week) is good for your overall health, too! It’s loaded with antioxidants; it has mood-boosting qualities; and it may reduce risk of stroke. The reasoning being that the cocoa bean is rich in a class of plant nutrients called flavonoids. In honor of National Chocolate Day, here are some healthy ways to have a delectable day - guaranteed to make all your chocolate dreams comes true!

  • ·      Start your day with these chocolate muffins. Yes, you can have chocolate for breakfast! Especially when they’re (secretly) filled with flax, pumpkin, prunes and chomp-worthy chocolate!
  • ·      Continue the celebration with a DIY chocolate spa mask. This chocolate TREATment will moisturize, exfoliate and cleanse your skin.
  • ·      After a nutritious dinner, it’s time to whip up a decadent dessert. This dark chocolate bark provides a unique crunch, filled with protein-rich chia seeds and nuts.

Take your sweet time to enjoy these treats a choco-LOT. But afterwards, remember to brush and floss your pearly whites.
