Buying a quick bite from food trucks is a new trend emerging in many cities across America. But what food trucks are the best choices for your teeth?

Over the years, many food truck vendors have ensured that their food is not only affordable and easily available, but is also healthy.

Choose a food truck that is right for you and your family

The variety on the menu of a food truck should not be the only criteria when choosing which truck to order from. Start by looking for food trucks that offer healthy alternatives instead of the usual unhealthy fare of fast food. Food trucks that boast locally sourced ingredients and are associated with farmers’ markets offer food that is fresh, and hunting one down is often a good idea.

Food trucks and your teeth

No matter where or what you eat, your teeth are the first to come into play. Sugary snacks, soda pop, even candies and chewing gum, promote tooth decay. Choose a food truck that will keep you away from these health menaces and instead offer foods made from fresh vegetables and fruits, whole grains or healthy meats.

The Top Three Tips for Choosing a Food Truck

1.      Most food trucks cater to a niche market, so many trucks will offer vegetarian meals. A vegetarian truck will absolutely have a menu with fresh veggies. Whether it is sandwiches, soups, juices, or salads, a vegetarian truck can offer a healthy dose of vitamins and minerals.

2.      Avoid the dessert trucks. Restaurants aren’t the only eateries jumping on the food truck bandwagon. Chances are that you will encounter a couple delectable dessert trucks this weekend. Since the amount of sugar is so high in sweet desserts, we recommend you avoid falling into the sugar trap. If you must indulge, rinse your mouth out with water right away, and brush as soon as you can.

3.    Seasonal food trucks are a great choice, as most ingredients will be locally grown and in the peak of their season. Many seasonal trucks will also boast organic fare – always a plus. Often these kinds of food trucks add variety to an otherwise static menu because their meals will change with the seasons.

Offering menus filled with farm fresh and organic food, the food truck revolution is certainly helping foodies! And their teeth!
